Energy for Africa
Energy was the crucial theme at COP27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh. Energy production and climate change have been topics that intertwine and run in parallel. The energy sector alone is responsible for nearly 75% of all greenhouse gas emissions, so a rapid transition to renewable energy is needed to tackle the climate crisis.
Africa would play an important role, as it possesses a wealth of untapped resources that could be used in the production of renewable energy tools such as electric batteries, wind turbines and other low-carbon technologies to aid global mitigation efforts and support job creation across Africa.
