Energy for Africa
Energy was the crucial issue at COP27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh. Energy production and climate change have been issues that are intertwined and walk in parallel. The energy sector alone is responsible for nearly 75 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions, so a rapid transition to renewable energy is needed to address the climate crisis.
Africa would play an important role, as it possesses a wealth of untapped resources that could be used in the production of renewable energy tools such as electric batteries, wind turbines and other low-carbon technologies to further global mitigation efforts and support job creation across Africa.
