Frabemar Srl, the role of maritime transport in the world economy

In international trade, sea logistics accounts for 70 percent of trade: for Frabemar, which has been active in shipping for 30 years thanks to the experience of founder Franco Bernardini, this is a percentage that highlights the sector’s leading role in the world economy. Despite the high numbers, the industry has been growing slightly in recent years, making a significant impact globally due to the number and operation of active companies, the amount of infrastructure and the volume of investment involved.

However, the economic crisis and the resulting trade difficulties have had an impact, especially in international competition, which has also been strengthened by the possibilities granted by technological innovation and the consequent increase in the construction of new vessels. To date, emerging economies account for the largest share of the maritime industry, with 59 percent of exports and 64 percent of imports: of the respective percentages, the Asian continent alone is worth 40 percent and 61 percent.

In the current environment, as is the case in other industries, companies with strong expertise are aiming for quality through improving workers’ living conditions, safety, community and international instances, and generally in improving the efficiency of the workforce. For this reason Frabemar, which operates mainly in West Africa, has created a Training Department taking into account precisely the peculiar aspects of continental logistics with specially designed modules, as well as staying constantly up-to-date on equipment thanks to the Department of New Technologies.
